Chiropractic Services in Downtown Chicago

Chiropractic and Therapeutic Services Under One Roof

At Loop Spine & Sports Center, treatment is never one-size-fits-all. Dr. Trottier combines hands-on chiropractic adjusting with massage therapy, spinal decompression, and a range of therapeutic modalities to build a treatment plan that fits your specific condition, not a preset program.

Most patients receive a combination of services during each visit, all in a single appointment at our office at 30 N. Michigan Ave. in the heart of the Chicago Loop.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic adjusting is the foundation of care at Loop Spine & Sports Center. Dr. Trottier uses diversified spinal adjusting as his primary technique, a hands-on manual approach that addresses restricted and misaligned vertebral segments throughout the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.

Most patients receive full spine adjusting during their visits, with the specific focus and intensity tailored to their condition and how they are responding to care.

For patients with low back and disc-related conditions, spinal adjusting is typically combined with lumbar flexion distraction and pelvic drop technique, a gentler approach that relieves pressure on the lumbar discs without the more forceful movements of traditional adjusting.

A smaller percentage of patients also benefit from extremity adjusting of the wrist, knee, or ankle when those joints are contributing to their overall condition. Dr. Trottier evaluates each patient individually and adjusts his approach based on what the examination findings and clinical response indicate, not a predetermined protocol.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is not an optional add-on at Loop Spine & Sports Center. It is a central part of how most patients are treated here. The combination of chiropractic adjusting and hands-on soft tissue work consistently produces better outcomes than either approach alone, and most of our patients receive massage as part of their regular visits. Many request it every time they come in.

Our massage therapists are graduates of The Soma Institute in Chicago and bring years of experience in both spa and chiropractic settings. They specialize in deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy, and incorporate cupping and scraping techniques when appropriate. They work closely alongside Dr. Trottier so that massage complements and supports the chiropractic care rather than operating independently of it.

For patients who are pregnant, prenatal massage is available after the first trimester. For patients dealing with chronic muscle tension, sports-related soreness, or the kind of tightness that builds up from long hours at a desk, massage therapy is often the difference between temporary relief and lasting improvement.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical treatment option for patients dealing with herniated or degenerated discs in the lumbar spine. It works by gently stretching the spine in a controlled, motorized manner, creating negative pressure within the disc that can help retract herniated material, relieve pressure on compressed nerves, and promote the flow of nutrients and hydration back into the disc.

At Loop Spine & Sports Center, spinal decompression is used as part of a broader treatment approach for low back pain, sciatica, and disc-related conditions. It is typically combined with chiropractic adjusting, lumbar flexion distraction, and massage therapy rather than used in isolation. That combination addresses the problem from multiple angles and tends to produce more consistent results than any single modality on its own.

Spinal decompression is not appropriate for every patient or every condition. Dr. Trottier evaluates each case individually and recommends it only when the clinical picture supports it. If you have been dealing with low back pain, radiating leg pain, or a disc diagnosis that has not responded to other treatment, it may be worth a conversation.

Custom Foot Orthotics

Custom foot orthotics are one of the more frequently overlooked tools in chiropractic care, and one of the most consistently useful ones at Loop Spine & Sports Center. Dr. Trottier prescribes orthotics regularly for patients dealing with low back pain, hip pain, knee pain, ankle issues, and foot conditions where the mechanics of how a patient stands and moves are contributing to their symptoms.

The connection between foot mechanics and spinal health is more direct than most patients expect. Imbalances in how weight is distributed through the feet can create compensatory patterns that travel up through the ankles, knees, hips, and into the lumbar spine. Correcting those mechanics with a properly fitted custom orthotic can make chiropractic adjustments hold longer and reduce the likelihood of recurring pain.

Unlike over-the-counter insoles, custom orthotics are designed specifically for your foot structure and the mechanical issues identified during examination. For patients whose conditions have a postural or biomechanical component, they are often a meaningful part of a complete treatment plan rather than an afterthought.
