Meet Dr. Ron Trottier | Chicago Chiropractor

Certified Chiropractic Sports Injury Physician Serving Chicago Since 1996

Dr. Ron Trottier has spent nearly three decades helping patients in downtown Chicago get out of pain and get back to doing the things they love. From the office worker dealing with chronic neck and back pain to the marathon runner pushing through a lower extremity injury, he has built his practice around one consistent principle: find out exactly what is wrong and treat it effectively from day one.

He is not a rotating door of associates or a high-volume clinic built around volume. He is a solo practitioner who has been in the Chicago area since January 1996. Every patient who walks through that door is seen by Dr. Trottier personally.

How Dr. Trottier Found Chiropractic

Dr. Trottier grew up playing hockey. Like most athletes, he dealt with his share of injuries along the way, and it was one of those early hockey injuries that led to his first visit to a chiropractor. What he experienced in that office stayed with him. Chiropractic worked, and he wanted to understand why.

That curiosity eventually became a career. After completing his undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, he enrolled at the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois in 1992. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology in 1993 and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in December 1995. During his internship at the Chicago NCC Clinic that same year, he became actively involved in sports medicine, a direction that would shape the next phase of his training.

From 2001 to 2002, Dr. Trottier pursued post-graduate studies at the National University of Health Sciences, completing the requirements to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Injury Physician in June 2002. He has been practicing in the Chicago area since January 1996, the same commitment, nearly three decades later.

What Sets Dr. Trottier Apart

There is no shortage of chiropractors in Chicago. What brings patients to Dr. Trottier and keeps them coming back is a combination of things that are harder to find in one place than you might expect.

Nearly 30 Years in Chicago

Dr. Trottier has been a Chicago area chiropractor since 1996. That kind of longevity in a competitive downtown market is not an accident. It is the result of consistently getting patients better and building a practice on referrals and reputation rather than advertising.

Patients who find him tend to stay, and they tend to send their coworkers and friends.

Credentials That Goes Beyond Chiropractic School

The Certified Chiropractic Sports Injury Physician credential requires post-graduate training and examination well beyond what is covered in chiropractic school.

It means Dr. Trottier has a deeper clinical foundation for evaluating and treating both spine-related conditions and the injuries that come with active lifestyles. Whether your issue is a lumbar disc or a shoulder that won't cooperate, that additional training matters.

Everything Under One Roof

Chiropractic adjusting, massage therapy, spinal decompression, flexion distraction, electrical stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, and custom orthotics, all available in a single office at a single address. Most patients get everything they need in one visit without being sent somewhere else.

A Straight Answer on Day One

Dr. Trottier does not drag out the diagnostic process over multiple appointments. You get a thorough examination, x-rays if warranted, a clear explanation of what he found, and in most cases treatment begins the same day.

How Dr. Trottier Treats

Dr. Trottier's approach is hands-on and specific. The foundation of care for most patients is diversified spinal adjusting, a full spine manual technique that addresses restricted and misaligned vertebral segments throughout the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.

For patients with low back and disc-related conditions, he typically combines adjusting with lumbar flexion distraction and pelvic drop technique, and uses the spinal decompression machine for cases involving herniated or degenerated discs.

Massage therapy is a central part of treatment at Loop Spine & Sports Center, not an optional add-on. Most patients receive massage as part of their regular visits because the combination of chiropractic adjusting and soft tissue work consistently produces better outcomes than either approach alone.

Electrical stimulation with an IST table and therapeutic ultrasound are used when appropriate, particularly for tendinitis and inflammatory conditions.

For patients with foot, ankle, knee, or low back issues that have a mechanical component, Dr. Trottier prescribes custom foot orthotics as part of the treatment plan. A small percentage of patients also benefit from extremity adjusting of the wrist, knee, or ankle alongside spinal care.

What you will not find here is a one-size-fits-all program. The combination of techniques used on any given visit depends on what your condition calls for that day, not a preset protocol.
